I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works, my soul knows it very well.

Civic Duty...

My mom is currently serving her civic duty as a juror on a case. This is her Monday will be her third week on the jury. Obviously she has made friends with a couple of the jurors, the term friends is being used lightly here. BUT... She did mention that she has the ultimate hook up on sweets, and promised them she would bring in cupcakes. So... I've made 24 cupcakes for my Mom and the other wonderful citizens who put their daily lives on hold to uphold the commitment of Jury Duty.

I hope these Italian Cream Cupcakes, with a swirl of cream cheese icing and sprinkled with chopped pecans make your day, and I hope they have a coffee maker in the jurors room!

seriously... CHOCOLATE...

I made these dozen cupcakes for a small party celebrating Ashley's sons upcoming move. They are seriously chocolate, chocolate cake, chocolate icing and chocolate sprinkles. Seriously... Can I come to the party?

It's a Small World After All...

These two sheet cakes were made for our church congregation tomorrow after the service. David and Jennifer have been relocated to Columbia with his work. These cakes are to celebrate their time with us and their upcoming move.

I am sorry to see them leave they are always so warm and Jennifer always has a hug for everyone, but I am not sad, because - It is a Small World After All, and I know that we will see them both again soon!

If The Shoe Fits...

I have to start out by saying, I love this cake! I made this cake for Tay. She is expecting a little girl and I am just delighted for her! She is obviously over the moon about the upcoming arrival of her daughter. Her sister gave me full artistic authority over the cake as long as it was girlie.

Cake choice was never a question, Tay loves french vanilla and butter cream icing, so this moist french vanilla cake is filled and iced with a traditional butter cream icing.

The shoes and bows I hand made from sugar paste, and painted them with a luster dust so they look just like patent leather little girl Mary Jane's. The bows are adorned with an opalescent brooch in the center with pretty little bitty french dragees. All entirely edible.

Congratulations Tay- enjoy your shower, your cake and looking at all of those little clothes. Especially enjoy the first moments with your daughter, they will have to last you a lifetime.

Captain Cameron...

Eggs..

In case you haven't heard there have been massive egg recalls.
To be proactive, for the time being I am switching to Egg Beaters as my sole egg supply in baking. Baking in general should not be an issue because the eggs are thoroughly cooked, however Egg Beaters provide extra security as it is a pasteurized product.

Surprise...

This cake was made for Amanda's birthday. In case you've forgotten. Amanda and Ryan were married in June, and I did their wedding cakes.

Ryan ordered this cake for Amanda, he is hosting a surprise party for her birthday this afternoon. What a sweet husband!

Thank you so very much to all of the amazing teachers and staff at Meadow Wood. You are loved, and appreciated! Enjoy your dinner, and please whatever you do enjoy dessert! :)

Swirls...

I made this cake for a party for the moms of the new first grade class at Meadow Wood! The party has since been postponed, so I'm in the process of finding a home for this moist french vanilla cake with strawberry filling and creamy chocolate icing.

It is sad to part with such a pretty cake, but I know it's best- I don't have the self control to be a one piece sort of girl. It is best it goes! :)

I'm sure it will find a home- it's not ever too hard to give cake away!

She's Married...

These cupcakes were made last minute, because they decided to get married today. That's right. Sarah and Eric were planning a wedding in November, but she has recently been diagnosed with the horrific news of stage 4 cancer. So they decided to seize the day, and enter into holy matramony today!

You can read more of her story on her blog www.sarahchidgey.blogspot.com

Strawberry Shortcake...

This cake was made for a first time Momma who is expecting a baby girl! Pink... Pink... Pink...
The shower theme was strawberry shortcake, some of the decorations included real strawberry topiary's- They were so super CUTE! The theme carried over into the cake. I was asked to adorn the top of the bottom tier with chocolate covered strawberries.

The bottom tier of this cake is a dense dark chocolate cake , and the top tier is a moist french vanilla cake. Both tiers are filled with a strawberry filling and iced with a traditional butter cream. The flowers and carriage on top are fondant and edible.

Happy Shower Day Momma!

79 years and counting...

Tomorrow we are celebrating my Poppy's birthday. He is my Dad's father, and is one of the most special men I know. He has been a loving and devoted, son, husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather for 79 years.

His faith in Jesus as our Savior resonates in him. His light shines! I still have a small piece of paper in my bible from church an Easter morning years ago. A torn piece of paper where he wrote He is Risen... It is such a small note with such big words, and something Poppy so deeply wants me and you to know!
He insists everyone call him Poppy- that is who he is, and has been since I was born. You see I was the first grandchild, so I got to pick his name! :)

I talk to Poppy way more on the phone than I get to see him. He lives about 2 hours outside of Houston, but tomorrow we will go to church with him and lunch to celebrate after.

When I asked him what kind of cake he wanted he said "Ahh... I dunno- I like plain everyday white cake..." Well, you don't turn 79 every day so it is a bit more special than plain everday cake, but it is a very moist vanilla cake, iced and filled with a classic butter cream icing. The masonic symbol on the top and letters are fondant, and edible.
My Poppy doesn't know ANYTHING about the internet so he won't see this post, but if you are reading it please pray with me that he will have a happy and healthy 79th year.

Simply Pink and White...

One-derful...

This cake is for Cailyn's first birthday! The cake was designed to match her plates and napkins. The pattern is named "One-derful" which I think such a cute play on words.

The party cake is a dense chocolate cake with a traditional butter cream filling and iced entirely with butter cream.

Cailyn's birthday cake is a light vanilla sponge cake with butter cream. It is just the perfect size for her little bitty hands to grab handfuls and shovel into her itty bitty mouth!

Happy Birthday Baby Girl! God Bless You!

Triple Chocolate...

These cupcakes were made for my sweet kids this week. They are usually so patient while I bake and decorate cakes for everyones special occasions, so I thought since I was only responsible for two cakes this week I would treat them.
These are triple chocolate cakes, a dense chocolate cake, creamy chocolate butter cream, and chocolate sprinkles on top.

They loved them. After the cupcakes they all played in the water hose until we had a VERY muddy front yard. Overall a successful, fun, free day! I can't believe only two weeks till school starts, it is so bitter sweet.

For Research - Really...

I think that it is not only important for the cakes to be decorated beautifully, but it is also important that they taste delicious! - I mean that is the point, Right?

So... I invited over 7 of my dearest friends whose opinions I valued, and had them

"Rate The Cake" Each cake was only identified by its number 1-9

There were four vanilla varieties, two chocolate, two lemon and a red velvet.
The result- lots of smiles, lots of chatter, and lots of really good and interesting feedback. I'm taking the info and running with it!

Thank you so much to my girls! I appreciate your time and taste buds!

Jwaye Zanivese Abby...

This cake is for Abby's 19th birthday. This summer she served on a mission trip in Haiti. Her mom told me a beautiful story about Abby's time in Haiti.

On Abby's last day of her trip the little boys she'd befriended were tearful and upset about her leaving. She tore the bandanna she'd worn while working that week into three strips and made bracelets for the boys and herself. She promised the boys that she would be thinking of them and praying for them.

Abby is home now and is still wearing her red bandanna bracelet with Haiti on her mind. The trip was so meaningful for her she is planning to go back and serve again at her Christmas break.

This birthday cake is reminiscent of her time in Haiti. This french vanilla cake has a ripe strawberry filling and is covered in traditional butter cream icing.
In turquoise butter cream the cake says Happy Birthday Abby in Haitian Creole.
The red bandanna is obviously in remembrance of her promise to the young Haitian boys before she left. The promise of prayer!

Happy Birthday Abby- What an amazing young woman you are. The world is a better place because of you!

Beautiful...

My Mom made me the most beautiful bookmarks, and I just can't NOT share them with you! They really really are amazing, and look oh so beautiful hanging down the edge of your book.

She also made me and my girls beautiful turquoise bracelets and a matching dangle-y pendent for a silver chain. All of our bracelets have a matching little charm which makes them so special.

I am really impressed with her craftsmanship. She actually crafts the love knots, and clasp herself. Soooo... If you find yourself in need of a new bracelet or are tired of dog ear-ing your books at night- Email me, I've got the hook up!!!

Here Comes the Choo Choo Train...

Coming round the track...

First it's coming forward and then it's going back..
