Two for one...

This cake is for TWINS, a boy and a girl!

Asher wanted a Star Wars cake, of course, and Anna wanted a princess Tiana cake. The mom wanted one...
I made each cake completely separately so that I wouldn't be concerned about matching the cakes. The mom wanted both kids to have a special cake of their own, so I didn't want to pick colors or patterns to coordinate, I wanted to pick what worked for each theme.

Anna's Princess Tiana cake is a french vanilla with a traditional butter cream filling and icing. The topper is a toy that she can enjoy after the party.

Asher's Star Wars cake is a Milky Chocolate cake with a traditional butter cream filling and icing. Both action figures light sabers light up, but obviously they will be turned on at the party.

Happy 5th Birthday Anna and Asher!
PS: Michelle, I am in awe at the thought of bringing two babies home from the hospital- You Rock!

Is your crown on straight girl...

So here is another princess cake. The little girls love this cake, and I got so tickled at church this morning, because there are two sisters one who is turning 3 and one turning 6 and both are waiting patiently for their princess cakes.

It reminded me of a really bad day I had. I was on the phone with my mom, and after cheering me up a bit, she said "Girl, get your crown on straight, you're the daughter of the Almighty King" That imagery is so special, and is SO true.

Girl... Is your crown on straight today? Don't forget YOU are the daughter of the Almighty King, our Lord! You are more precious than rubies. Check it out in Proverbs 3:15!

Back to this yummy cake... Connally wanted a french vanilla cake with traditional butter cream icing between the layers, and rolled fondant icing. EVERYTHING on this cake is edible, even the glittery crown!

Pink, Pink, and Pink...

This cake was made for a little girl whose favorite color is Pink!

This bottom tier of this cake is french vanilla and the top tier is a dark chocolate. The cake is iced in a tradition butter cream icing and the polka dots and flowers are made of fondant. Notice the little french dragees in the center of each flower. Also, the picture doesn't do it justice, but this little girls momma makes jewelry so you know she likes "BLING". Each polka dot is covered in edible glitter, and the edges of each flower are dusted. It sparkles!!!

I really love the ruffle around the bottom of each tier, I think it is a very feminine finish!

Happy Birthday Little Missy, enjoy your Pink Cake!

Happy Birthday...

This cake was made for Wendy. Her friends requested it say Happy Birthday in Chinese. I was sent the simple Chinese calligraphy for Happy Birthday and am hopeful it translates well in butter cream!

The cake is a french vanilla cake with a creamy chocolate icing. The calligraphy and flowers are red, because red is a lucky color in China. There are also 8 flowers on the cake, because 8 is a lucky number. There are 7 on the top of the cake and one on the side.
Happy Birthday Wendy!

Psalm 119:10

"I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands"
Henry is being baptised this weekend, and as a Christian this verse clearly states my own hearts desires, but as a mother it sure is what I hope my children desire too.

Henry, you are loved. Know that!

This decadent cake is to celebrate the joyous occasion! It is a rich vanilla cake with traditional butter cream as a filling and then iced in butter cream. All piping in butter cream.

Celebrating in Spring...

OK, so it feels like summer, but these pastel hues, will be beautiful year round. I made a dozen of these cupcakes to celebrate an anniversary. I was flattered that I was asked to make these since they were made for a lady who publishes an online culinary magazine..
Check it out
www.culinarythymes.com

That kind of makes me almost famous right?? :)

These cupcakes are lemon with a classic swirl of butter cream icing, and a fondant medallion and flower on each cake.

Classic...

These are classic colors together. Red, white and black. This cake is for a wedding shower. The top cake is french vanilla with raspberry filling and the bottom tier is chocolate with raspberry filling. The cake is iced in butter cream and scroll work is butter cream. The bow on top is fondant.

Much happiness, and blessings for the soon to be Mr. and Mrs!

Let's Play Ball...

I made 12 of these classic white cake's with butter cream icing and a sugared baseball on top for a family of three boys. Their grandma is in town, and decided to treat them to a yummy home made treat! Lucky Boys!

8 years...

This past Tuesday was our eight wedding anniversary. In some ways that seems about right, and in other, I can hardly believe it and think it must have been yesterday we were married.

Pottery or bronze are the traditional gifts, and J got me these beautiful stacking cake plates. I love them, and since this blog is about cakes, I didn't think posting a picture of them was too off topic. Aren't they pretty!

John 8:12

"I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness but have the light of life."
Two cousins will be dedicated this weekend. What a wonderful celebration for both families. Celebrating our promise as Christians, and the birth of two boys who will grow, encourage, and love each other!

Pretty in Pink...

This cake was made for Ella's first birthday. She is having a celebration with her family this weekend! Simple and sweet for her birthday! I'm sure everyone will enjoy the occasion.

Little Gymnast...

These cupcakes were made for a little girl who is having a gymnastics party. I made 24 for her with different colored hula hoops on each. The hula hoops are made of fondant and it is my understanding that each child will get a hula hoop as a party favor too. FUN STUFF!

Happy Retirement...

This is the second time I've made this cake, but this time it is bigger! This is a 12" round cake on the bottom and the top tier is a 6" cake.

This is an Italian cream cake with a classic butter cream icing and a gazillion little gum paste apple blossom flowers in beautiful spring hue's of turquoise, purple, and pink. They each have a little silver dragee in the center of the flower, and are so pretty against the lime green! The bow on top is made out of fondant. Everything on this cake is edible.
I love it!

We're all wishing you a blessed retirement Rosemary!

Sweet thought...
