Psalm 139:14

I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works, my soul knows it very well.

Welcome Baby Nolan

Our wonderful neighbor's had their baby boy this weekend! We have been waiting on him!

This is their second baby, and she had a shower where instead of a gift everyone brought a dinner. The lucky Momma has 7 weeks worth of suppers in her freezer, so it was only appropriate that I make dessert!

Pretty Itty Bitty...

So I've gone cake-tastic this week, but I have enjoyed every minute of it.

This cake is classic white cake with raspberry filling, butter cream icing and a fondant bow.

If you know me, you must have known it was going to be a cake filled week when you saw the first blue fondant bow!

Purpleicious

If you have a little girl, you probably have the book Purpelicious, or maybe even
Pinkalicious. We are a Pinkalicious household.
This cake is Purpleicious, and I hope the three year old little girl that it is for, loves it! I think this cake is a little over the top with purple, but purple is her favorite color and most three year old girls are over the top!

I for one can vouch that without my parental control my oldest daughter at three would have happily worn her high heeled plastic snow white shoes, pink tutu, and her "beautiful" plastic heart jeweled necklace from Chuck E. Cheese all day - every day!.

This Purpleicious cake is a dense butter vanilla cake with butter cream icing, and fondant flower accents.

One down, one to go...

So I am making two cakes this week. This is the first. I really do love it. Brown and light pink are so fun together.
This cake is a Swiss chocolate sponge cake with Milk Chocolate Icing, and Raspberry Filling. The pink decorative icing is butter cream.
I am thankful that I got the icing to match the pink ribbon exactly. This ribbon is particularly pale pink.
Pink can be tricky, you can go from white, to Pinkie Pie (from My Little Pony) quick! If you know my daughter, you know who Pinkie Pie is. If not, google Pinkie Pie to reference the color, she is PINK!

Twinkle Twinkle Little Star...

This cake is a lemon sponge cake with raspberry filling.
The bow is fondant and I love the glitzy glitter on the stars, balls at the bottom and the bow. The edible glitter is from England thanks to an awesome cake loving sister in law.

Let them eat cake...

So here are the last two cakes before we can start fresh with one cake entry at a time.
These two cakes were for the coolest men I know, my Man and my "Little Man".

J needed a cake for his Christmas Party at work, and I did the project logo and my "Little Man" obviously knows who the best super hero is...

Chocolate Cake

I love Chocolate Cake. I love Chocolate anything... Especially Cadbury Fruit and Nut bars. That is serious chocolate. These are the Chocolate Cakes I've made.

More Vanilla

Clearly vanilla has been a preference. I think because it doesn't stain kids clothes...

You all know laundry is my foe, right... I'm sure there will be more on that later.

Vanilla Cakes

As I mentioned before I am blogging to keep a record of what I've done, and how it worked, so the next two posts are going to be full of pictures of cakes I've already made, and have long since been eaten! (that's the most important part, right....)

I think the easiest way to divide up the pictures is by the every important decision, chocolate or vanilla. There are of course lots of other decisions, like which filling to go with... But the most decisive is chocolate or vanilla.

This post will include vanilla!

Fun with Fondant!

Here are my first two fondant cakes! Fondant is FUN! I love that it creates such a smooth and elegant surface! I think the first one looks like a lovely spring hat. We gave it to a family we know that has FOUR girls. I thought they might like the flowers, and they did!

The second is a better cake... It went to the teachers lounge! I can't resist the temptation of cake in our house!

Love in the kitchen...

So here we go...
I've decided that I'd like a more organized way of keeping track of the cakes and treats that I am making and have made.

My most recent creation was yesterday and was a Swiss Chocolate Cake with Almond Cream Icing and a chocolate ganache topping.

Today when J got home from work, we had a slice with a cup of coffee. He and Jacob both agreed that they loved it, and me... You know what they say.. The way to a man's heart is through his stomach.
